I am probably one of the largest MiFlex Dealers so I had a long talk with Mark at XS last night. Here is the long and short of it. This is going to sound funny but North Americans are either hard on gear or we dive a lot more.:) Apparently, the majority of all the problems that have occurred with the HP hoses are here in the US (barely any overseas)! Compared to the amount of MiFlex that I have sold, there have only been a handful that have come back and the ones back were from, not sure how to word this, but from non-homegrown customers (probably just a percentage deal). Anyway, The recall was issued in Canada 1st, plain a simple, the process is a lot faster! There will be something coming out in the U.S. shortly (hopefully the next week or two) everything has been filed (paperwork process is Slooooow)! This will be a volunteer recall that will be super easy for the customer. XS will have something on their site where you can send it in or you will be able to go to your local dealer as well. As far as I know you will be able to get the New version of MiFlex or the

DuoKev High Pressure Hoses DuoKev High Pressure Hoses . I personally have been diving the MiFlex hoses since they 1st came out (We launched them for XS at BTS) and I have had no issues with mine and show them to people so they can see how the hold up (I am a very active diver/instructor). We have also been using the New DuoKev and they have been great.

Hope this is helpful, US people, be patient, I'll post the second it becomes official!

Based on the past week of cave diving, where I was using HP Miflex hoses to connect my spgs to my deco bottles, I can report multiple failures during pressurizing of the regs due to failed o-rings at the Spg end of the hose. At least these failure were on the surface but it felt like for each dive, the hose+spg combo needed a strip and rebuild to be sure of them working. I won't be using the hoses again. Garbage.

With seeing and hearing about the failures, I personally have switched to the DuoKev HP Hoses! I still use the LP Miflex Hoses because they work and like I said, from the original production run (no issues).

Wayne, do you have any experience with the DuoKev HP in 6"? When pressurized are they limp like the MiFlex or stiff like traditional rubber? I have already ordered new hoses to replace my MiFlex HP, but if I can get a better option from MiFlex, I will do so.

The DuoKev HP is a thin like the MiFlex but a little stiffer (not as stiff as rubber). The crimping in the ends seam to be better as well.

Thanks Wayne. These are for my sidemount rig, so I like to have the SPG's on a stiff hose. They might work good for a stage bottle where I have to bend the hose though.

Wayne, did they simply add a + to the end of the model number for the new miflex version? ie. MHP06-BK+ for new and MHP06-BK for recalled?

I'd be curious to hear form Chris at Edge/Hog gear regarding his Edgeflex hose now that another manufacturer has been added to hear his statement on his hoses.

Are dealers going to look through all of their sales receipts to see who purchased the hoses (for notification purposes)?

The new hoses are not out yet so I do not know how they will differentiate between old and new. Do to the inconsistency of the problem and that it is a non-serial# item, I believe that this is going to be a "Volenteer" Recall.
