Hi guys, I came across this thread when I was looking to replace a damaged Atomic swivel hose on my regulator. I was a little put back by the replacement price of the swivel hose for Atomic, it is really nice but it is hard to spend that much money for a hose. I thought I would look for some alternatives like the Oceanic or Apollo swivel hoses, but after reading about these and seeing what people who have used them said I think I’m sold. Light weight, flexible, reasonably tough, heck I even have colors to choose from, and from the sounds of it these should reduce jaw fatigue quite a bit over a standard hose. I may not feel the need to upgrade all my other hoses, especially since the only other one I have has an SS1 fitting on it, but since I have a hose that’s already dead, this seems like the best / easiest / cheapest upgrade. My question to those of you who have used them is do you think this type of hose offers the same (or at least close) reduction in jaw fatigue as a second stage swivel like the Atomic would? We will have both styles in stock soon and these seem like they will save me a ton of money V.S. a Ti or SS swivel hose. Thanks in advance.

I think Brett that was a cheap way to advertise you will be carrying them....:D

why the gripe?

According to XS Scuba Dealer Locator, LP is an authorized XS Scuba dealer. (Just like Divers Supply is....)

A little dealer competition is a good thing. :D

EDIT: It's not like this is on a dealers "Hot Deals" thread. It's a thread asking about the hoses and if anyone had used them.

Creich, I’d say I’m pretty good at telling it like it is, I really have no problem at all making a post that says “we have ‘em too”. But that isn’t going to help me figure out if a product that I’ve never touched or used is going to do what I’m looking for. The cool part is that with SB I get to do it while I’m at work.

Considering the hoses have not yet landed on US soil, and therefore none of us have actually used them yet, I don't see how we can really answer your question.

Of course, if you had read the thread, you would have seen that similar questions have already been asked with no responses possible...

You may not have noticed, but this is an international forum. Miflex hoses have been in Oz for months & Europe for longer. So I can't see why you would think it would be impossible to get a response from someone who has used them.

Thanks Kern, couldn't have said it better, MarkUK has already answered questions about these hoses right in this thread. If he has used a reg with a second stage swivel I would be very interested in hearing his (or anyone elses) comparison in regards to freedom of movement.

I have a M&J swivel on my G250HP and a longer, 42" hose .. the swivel is a little stiff under pressure and spends it's life at a 90* angle with my hose routed under my arm up to the reg.... I could have had an elbo instead but a more flexable Miflex hose would probably make ether one a mute point

Brett,

I have used an Atomic and an Oceanic with a second stage swivel joint. The feel of these compared to a MiFlex hose is a little different, in that the whole hose is flexible, rather than with the joint, the very end being more mobile while the rest is still normal rubber hose. However, I have found that the added flexibility of the MiFlex does significantly reduce the drag you can get off a traditional hose. I'd give one a go, but I think you will be impressed.

Mark
