Hello Matt

Thank you for the information. I did my open water in June at Gilboa. So far I have 33 dives. I also went back to Gilboa a got my night and drysuit certification. Because I was using alot of air I took the Nitrox classes. A few dives with Nitrox, my air use has gotten better, I also purchased high preassure 120's.

I have had some nice dives in the area but the best was in the Virgin Islands a couple weeks ago.

I want to continue to dive each week if possible, but need to connect with more group events or anyone looking to dive in the area.

Welcome to the boards, I'm new to them also and have already found the people friendly and helpful.

I was certified while attending MSU, the local store around there (at least a few years back) was ZZ Underwater World..great people! The two I was closest with was Kerry and Mike, both were always willing to make great suggestions. Also at MSU there was a Dive Club, perhaps a search of the MSU website could get you an email of a local diver to share tips with. Good Luck!

Nick,

Welcome to the wrecking crew. We have several members (including myself) who love the diving in this fine state. I hope that you plan to make the Meet and Greet at Portage Quarry in a couple of weeks.

We also have members that charter out of Sanilac for some great wreck diving. PM me and you may get a personal escort

as there are many nice wrecks out there.

Yes that is the lake I am interested in. Any information you have on where to dive would be a great help. I have sailed on it before a few years ago.

I would like to make a trip this year. You can e-mail me at nicksafe@msn.com

Are there any good mid-depth wrecks to visit on lake michigan? I want to do some this fall/next summer, but i dont feel that I am ready for some of the 100+ foot wrecks around here.

Hello kawboy.

There are several wrecks in Lake Michigan in the 'mid-depth' range. A couple locations are off Milwaukee, WI and Charlevoix, MI. However, don't forget that being in Michigan you are centrally located to a fantastic choice of several Great Lakes! Some of the more popular wreck diving locations with shallower than 100+ foot wrecks are: Lexington/Sanilac, MI; The Mackinaw Straits; Munising, MI; Pt. Pelee, ONT; Alpena, MI to name a few.

And quarry diving is a great way to get some bottom time when you aren't able to wreck dive. If you haven't already done so, check out the thread regarding the GLWC Meet & Greet II.

I'll be in the North Country the weekends of 9/24 and 10/1, but I won't have my boat the weekend of 9/24. The dates are Fridays, becuase that's when I'm going. Torch looks awsome, but I've never been in it.
