Imagine a carpenter putting a mesh protector on his hammer...
 
Stay away from mesh. If I ever see another mesh protector it will be too soon. The catch on everything including BC straps. They trap salt and on top of that the tank sometimes slips out of the mesh and lands on the boat/dock/shore (i've seen it happen three times). The BC also never seems to get a real secure hold on the tank.
 
Let the tanks age gracefully. Leave the mesh protectors off. They really are a pain to deal with.
