I teach to support my hobby and I love the look on peoples faces when they realize how cool it is. I own a Restaurant and Catering business that pays my bills. I love the Wrecks off of the NC coast and the Caves in Florida, and I am now able to take my sons with me to show them what I have enjoyed for years. This year I decided to begin teaching some tech courses when several of my former students showed interest in deeper longer dives. I look forward to participating in discussions here to further my knowledge.

New member introduction

Real name: Richard Eller
Dives: 300+ in three years
Certs: 2009: CMAS ***, EANX, 2010: SDI Solo, IANTD Cavern, IANTD Normoxic Trimix, 2011: IANTD/NACD Intro to cave
CCR: Interested, but I do not like the stats at all
Dives: 30+ solo, 30-40 cave/cavern, ~20 ice, ~100 wreck dives (two WWII submarines, a 18th century sail ship with ship bell on deck, oldest wreck about 16th century, DC3 etc)

For some reason I do not consider myself as a "technical diver". Rather, I see the skills, gear and procedures as tools to achieve my goals of experiencing great dive scenery and just being there. This does not mean that I would overlook anything. I am also quite thorough in trying to get a holistic and deep understanding of all possible factors, both physical and mental.

I enjoy catching "the feeling of diving" on video. Richard Eller on Vimeo

I'm Mitch,

I'm 42 and have been a diver for 4 years. Last July my wife and I decided that we were primarily interested in wreck diving, so we started putting all of the equipment together that we'd need for technical diving. We made arrangements with an instructor and started training.

We are certified with TDI; Advanced Nitrox/Decompression Procedures.

We've been traveling around micronesia, and have included wrecks among the diving that we do. Now the plan is to return to Chuuk and dive there again, and just enjoy being able to access more wrecks, or spend more time on those that we've dove as recreational divers.

Anyway, the wrecks on Guam and near here are what inspired us to pursue more training. It's been challenging and fun, we're excited to learn more and gain more experience.

Probably in a year or two we'll pursue trimix training, but there's plenty to dive at out current (very new) level.

Thanks for having me.

-Mitch

Other comments:
Met Bernie at PanAqua dive shop in Brookfield, CT. Decided to give Adv. Nitrox and Deco a shot to get more bottom time for shooting photos. After some diving in the Northeast with Bernie I really started getting into wrecks, the history etc. Got in some decent 20-30 minute bottom times and started to really enjoy the extra time on the wrecks. Eventually Trimix started to make sense. Completed Extended Range last year in North Carolina on some awesome dives. October 2010 we completed Trimix at Lake George, NY. Only have a few mix dives under my belt but hopefully I can get some bottom time in this season and gain some more experience. A dive buddy of mine has really gotten into Caves but I'm not able to do that just yet. Hopefully in the not too distant future. Looking to do some more wreck penetration dives this season.

Hi! Chris McKenna here.

Years "tec" diving: 1
Total "tec" dives: half a dozen
Instructor: no.
Trimix: Yes
Rebreathers: Still trying to convince my spousal unit that I need one!
Caves: I don't have the nerve for it.
Other comments: It was noted in my approval to join this forum that I haven't posted a lot in the regular forums. I can only say that it's because I have more right now to learn than to teach. Maybe when I learn a lot more, I'll post more. But I do read almost everything, though!

Hello to all,

I am new to this section and just wanted to introduce myself.

I consider myself a rookie tech diver (Trimix) so I am always looking to increase my knowledge. My experience is building and I am loving every minute of it.

I have not been trained in caves...yet... but I do plan on making the jump when the time is right. Most of my tech diving (local anyway), has been wreck diving in Lake Superior.
