Diver dies in 'medical incident' at Titahi Bay, Porirua
A diver has died following what police described as a "medical incident" at Wellington's Titahi Bay.

On Sunday afternoon, Wellington Free Ambulance responded to reports of a diver – believed to be a man in his 30s or 40s – in a deteriorating condition who had surfaced near the beach at Terrace Rd.

The service sent three vehicles and a helicopter to the scene.

Police were called to Terrace Rd at about 3pm.

Wellington Free Ambulance said the patient was declared dead at the scene just before the helicopter was due to land in the area.

It was unclear what had caused the man's death.

A spokeswoman confirmed a person had died and police were in the process of identifying their next of kin.
