There is certainly plenty of conflicting info on this thread. The Executive Decree No. 28-1-2025 initially was quoted as saying vaccinations were for nationals of 24 countries, including the US and Canada. Now it is quoted as saying it is for Honduran citizens only. Both can't be true.

I was at my pharmacy today and asked about an MMR vaccination, out of curiosity. Because of my age (born before 1962 I think the pharmacist said) I require a doctor's prescription to get the shot..but it would be free through Medicare.

I'll wait for this to settle out. My trip to Roatan is not until January.

This is all looking like a big misunderstanding - and it does appear that Honduras is taking steps to protect their youth against a measles outbreak by having them get the vaccination. That's how I'm seeing it. This makes more sense to me.

Anthony's Key's website says the following now:

Measles Vaccination

Updated July 4, 2025

The Government of Honduras has issued an update to its entry requirements.

  • Foreign travelers are NOT REQUIRED to present proof of measles vaccination to enter the country.
  • As of July 7, 2025, measles vaccination is required only for Honduran citizens aged 12 months to 10 years who are re-entering Honduras after traveling to countries with active outbreaks.

Here's the link to the Honduran US embassy website that will show updated alerts. It might be worth bookmarking (I will) to watch for new information.
