i am wondering why you would choose a rock quarry to do that? i know nothing about free diving but I am guessing because since there are no currents it makes things a little easier. will you be decending with the help of weights? exactly what day are you going to do it i live about 10 min away from there...

...no currents, waves,an easy access,my friends will be diving there so they can help me with safety.......it will makes things easier .....I'm not sure what day.Probably thursday......descending and ascending with my weight belt on...

Not to mention its only a 1:15 drive vs 6+ hours. Lot easier to shake the rust off and try out new equipment there than in the Ocean.

Eh?

Dude's in Gulf Shores... the Gulf is in his backyard, but deep water is 20 miles out(need boat).

I was talking about it being 1:15 minutes from me. That's why I dive there. If I lived where you guys do I wouldn't dive quarries nearly as much as I do.

For actual diving needs, the Gulf is great, for hitting a freediving goal, can't beat the easy conditions and access of a quarry.

The main dock is the left one in the picture.

I heard you broke the record! Congratulations! I am a freediver and a scuba diver and have a friend who is also a freediver. We frequent Blue Water every week and have been looking for more freedivers to dive with. We have a line that goes down to about 143' but we keep it hidden by sinking the " bouy " so divers do not try and dive down there to see what is down there. You probably found it. We went this weekend and heard that you hit about 132'. My PB is about 122' and I think was the record for bluewater. I have done 129' but had a samba so it don't count ;-(. Anyway, I would love to hear how your dive went.
