I haven't read every post in this thread, but my thought is you can be a Master in just about anything you want, if you lay down your Master-Card. :wink:

Considering that you can become a PADI Master Diver at the age of 12 (15 for NAUI), you would probably have to use your mom's charge card.

Yeah, I should've said "A MasterCard" Doesn't really matter whose it is.
 
DAN's new "Diving Emergency Specialist" sounds like a real "Master Diver" non-professional certification.
 
I think the skills that the DAN recognition program cover are excellent ones to have, but it does not sound like you need to have particular suite of diving skills, it's really just another vanity plate. If you want something real ... become a DMT.
 
Its all marketing. Putting the word "master" or "specialist" as most agencies do after a cert appeals to the ego and makes them more liable to paying for and course the course. Its all about PR - it doesnt mean you're a master or a specialist at anything.
 
when i get my MSD i'm going to make everyone call me "Master" like the "Maestro" did in Seinfeld. :)
