Normally I'd say a cheap snorkeling set is fine to start with, as long as the mask fits well and is tempered glass. But I think it's better to avoid masks with purge valve unless you find you really need one, which you shouldn't. Especially in this case, as that's a really cheap set and you said the purge valve doesn't seem too great.
 
yes this would be grea for diving i have a snorckle just like that it is semi-dry and it works great i am 12 and going on my 3rd week this week and i have a simulatr mask but mines is a crystal vies with a perge and it works so much better for clearing the mask i hope this works for you
 
Thanks for the advice everyone, I'll probably be buying a new mask and fold-up snorkel, and use these guys as backup. The purge valve only really works if you either hold the mask on your face when you blow, or if you keep the mask strapped really tight, neither of which seem particularly appealing.
