If a person chooses to wear a mask he will probably do so properly. It's the cranky ones who try to cheat.
I wonder?

at the stores the workers didn't seem to care either.
That was because they need the business.
We regularly are with hundreds of people indoors without masks and it feels like it always did, normal.
It was like that before the last wave hit, then when it did - it had more cases than the three before. And there is another variant arriving. If our grandparents had handled the 1918 flu pandemic as poorly as we have this one, many of us wouldn't have been born.
others are still cautious and feel wearing one is small inconvenience they are willing to continue with for the time being.
:wavesmiley:
Are they still wearing them under their noses?
I shudder at those. One woman working at my local post office today was wearing hers under her chin, as she always has. I don't bother asking anymore.

I always offered and they always said no. Often in the small shops they'd remove theirs too when they realized I didn't care.

It had more cases due to many variables.

And there is another variant arriving.
Another variant, I must have missed it since the war is the main news and not covid anymore.

Those will keep coming. My FIL is pretty sick with the latest iteration of the 1918 flu.

Among those was reduced protection among the population.

It's been in the news if you look: New COVID variant is spreading across the US. Here's what you need to know about BA.2

I certainly hope that he recovers. Viruses tend to stay in populations with changes.

Also heard a rumour that the requirement for a scuba mask has been lifted by a leading dive agency… any confirmation on that? :outtahere:

Nah, pretty much people were people back then:

I mean seriously, doesn't this sound familiar?

"A study in 1919 concluded that mandatory mask mandates did not make any difference on epidemic, while observing that a likely reason for their ineffectiveness was that masks were worn outdoors and not inside in gatherings when conditions for transmission would be greatest. It also noted that most masks were improperly constructed of inadequate materials"

It really is a lot harder to be original than people think.

Among those was reduced protection among the population.
Indeed, many variables like the vaccinations not working as well, higher transmission, insanely high asymptomatic rates and people just tired of covid.
Ah, that one has been around for a while now and gaining more traction. I was thinking a newer...new...variant....

Viruses tend to stay in populations with changes.
It isn't going away, and everyone will get a version of it. Even China and their zero covid was not sustainable for the long haul.
