The underwater environment is as dangerous as it's beauty. The vivid colors of those corals are venomous and can be harmful. A bump into a coral can leave you with you with a cut, burn bruise or a venomous reaction.

The marine life we are fascinated by while diving have some potent defenses. And they come in all shape and sizes. The famous quote in Australia " if it looks like a cone? Leave it alone." The snail inside that cone has an extreme potent venomous defense.

For the minor cuts, bruises, burns and venomous stings and reactions! Please share your story and natural treatments that was applied to the affected area at issue.

Aloe Vera

A candidate in the Divemaster course one day bumped into a hard coral. Non venomous or anything just an irritation and burn like eel. Scraping the skin. Near a dive centre there was an Aloe Vera planting. A thought came to mind to apply some on that scrape. To relief the pain and skin irritation. iodine is excellent for reducing minor bleeding and acts as an antiseptic.

Safe diving and look out for one another!!!

Urine

As shocking as it sounds it's the most immediate source available. For a friend or family member. A fact though only the male urine has this potent affect.

During a dive four of us went diving and a girl diver end up getting in contact with a Tanica Salp. The irritating burning feel was minor but uncomfortable. One of the male friends ended up pouring his urine on the leg of his suffering friend to relief from the venom firing. Until they reached a pharmacy to treated in a modern way. Where there are no alternative treatments available immediately there are sources at your disposal in an instant.

For modern treatment follow these directions. How to Care for Jellyfish Stings | eHow.com

Have fun diving and explore this fascinating underwater world!!!

Who are you and why are you posting all this crap? Urine is not a proper treatment for stings, regardless of who wants to pee on you.

Direct Sunlight

If you've encountered water in your ear after a dive. With no pain or anything;

While sitting under the sun allow the raise of the sun to dry out the water inside the ear. By simply face the sun. natural and helpful method.

Share your stories and experiences.

I think that vinegar and alcohol has a better record.

If one cannot spell "antidote" correctly the value of one's first aid or medical advice should be suspect....
Typos happen to anyone, and on the board here - titles are a major risk as Google Spell Check doesn't pick up on them. I often type a title in the body first, then cut it to past.

His posts around the board are so often BS tho, he needs a warning badge akin to putting a bell on a cat.

I am attempting to be nice....you, Don, are not attempting to disseminate medical advice. Any typo you make is of little consequence.

One who would establish oneself as an authority should proof one's writing. Antidote and ray ("raise of the sun") are not difficult words.
