Don't know about the Cressi's but I dive in Quattros and I love them. They are absolutely wonderful. I don't know much about the mechanics of fins but I know that these make it so easy for me to get around in the water and they don't cause me any strain on my ankles which are very weak.

The best thing I can say about them is that 90% of the divers I dive with wear them and the other 10% of them are not using them because either they are on the Avanti x3 or waiting for their current fins to die so they can buy them ;)

Quattros are nice fins that give you good air consumption.. you may want to check out aqualung blades as well.... they and quattros tie every year for the best fin... and they're cheaper!

Fins that give you good air consumption

The Quattro is a big fin, it is a great piece of kit and I would never give mine up, but if you are small in frame or don't have moderately powerful legs I would look at a softer blade.

I guess I'll be the one desenting vote here for the Quattros. Forgive me. :(

Although I have a pair and dive them all the time IMO they're a little to soft and flexable. I dive with people that have many other types of fins and they ALWAYS seem to get more power from whatever they are using. Now I'm not a small guy, 6'1" and about 200 lbs and I'm in fairly good shape with strong legs but I always seem to be bringing up the rear in a mild current.

Just my opinion.

They don't seem to be any better than my Tusa split fins.

I have and use both the quatros and the plana avantis, both by Mares. Personally I like the Avanti's only because the Quatro's seem a little soft. They do work well but I do a lot of current diving and the Avanti does a better job. If either of these fins are too stiff for you you should do some leg exercises, all kidding set aside a stiff current can show up where you might not expect it and it doesnt care if your chosen fins are a little week to do the work so I believe in entering the jungle with a loaded gun.

The Rondines are very new - just released a few months ago I believe. Doubt many of us here have tried them so the poll may not be very useful.

The Quattros have been around for a while and have an excellent reputation. I personally have a pair that have taken quite a bit of abuse over the last 3 years and are still going strong.

Given Cressi's reputation for making good fins (eg Frogs, Garas) I don't think you'll go wrong with either choice.

So, I went on three dives with the Quattros and I hated them! :(
My legs were not sore at all but my ankles were killing me and I was having trouble manuvering in them, I think they are just too long for me. Anyone have any shorter reccomendations? :bounce: :tree:

Greenhonu, I would advise you to give them a longer trial run. I have used the quatros and found them very comfortable. In fact compared to most fins that I have dove they are a bit on the soft side so perhaps a little while to acclimate to them might be worth trying. Just my thoughts.
