Hello guys,

I am wondering if any of you heard of a regulator from mares called "Prestige".
It comes with the traditional MR12T first trap and in the shop they told me it's brand new. Anyhow, it doesn't show up on mares.com and google is not very helpfull on this one (only a couple of online shops that sell the octopus version)
Is this a good reg ? What reg can i compare it with that has the same capabilities.

Thanks for your help.

I do believe it is a "fancy version" of an Abyss.
The Abyss is a rock solid reg. that breathes very well.

Rich,
The op said that the reg has an MR12 first stage. The Abyss comes with a MR22 first stage. Very different.

keyshunter you're right.

Don't you think its funny I can't find any info on this reg ... even not on
the mares.com website.
Can it be it's too new ? or maybe very old ???

It appears to be non-US

Thalassamania thanks for that info... now i know where not to look :)
From your quick glance, would you say this is a brand new regulator ?
Also the website puts the prestige between Proton and Rebell ... can i compare this regulator as such ?

Thanks for your help in my search so far guys !

I think the MR-12 first stage is an excellent device, the second stage appears to be an upgrade from what was the MR-12 Navy, though I can't be sure. Every MARES regulator I had (which included MR-12 Navys that we used below 400 feet) has been excellent. The question is what is the price and what else can you get for the same money?

Hi all,

I thought I would respond and clear the air. The Prestige 12 regulator is a new product. While the MR 12 1st stage is and has been part of our regulator line for quite some time, the Prestige 2nd stage is brand new. We will also have a matching octo to go with it.

As mentioned previously the MR12 is a great performing balanced diaphragm 1st. I have yet to personally dive the Prestige 2nd, but after having seen it, I believe it will perform very well. I really like the size of the casing. It is slightly smaller than the Rebel, yet a little larger than the Proton. The purge button is good size and very easy to depress. This is good for those wearing thicker gloves.

I am leaving for Italy at the end of this week for a meeting, and I will have the opportunity to test dive some of our new products.:D I can post my thoughts when I get back, should anyone want to read them?

While it may be possible to find this on some european websites, we will be delivering to our U.S., Canadian, and Carribean dealers by end of October. Crossing the Atlantic seems to take forever sometimes!:shakehead:

We will have the information up on the website as soon as we can.

Best to all,

Best to all,
Dear Zak,

Thanks for that information, you really set my mind at ease. Something the salesperson in the store had a lot of trouble with :)

I bought the regulator and I will be diving with it soon.
The moment I have tested it I will post on how it performs.

Thanks again to all the people of the forum,

Ilan
