Get the Mares.
Better waist buckle, better crotch strap system, no chest strap, no stupid padding, better wing for sure, no contest. The Mares looks to be set up Hogarthian style which is what you want. I don’t know what the OMS is supposed to be but it certainly isn’t Hog that’s for sure.
Hi Erik - Good pints, thank you! Leaning towards the Mares:)

Yeah, Xdeep is 400 eur, comared to mares 600eur.
DTD and Tecline are even cheaper.
Found the Mares for Euro 500 but must say I like the look of the Xdee and Tecline so will need to try to find some reviews. Cheers.

Like everyone else says, go with the Mares. It's actually nice that a major brand is making a straightforward BP/W.

But also like everyone else says, assuming you are paying full retail for this you can get a better deal from one of the smaller specialist lines like xdeep or tecline.
Based on all the responses I have decided to drop the OMS one, and now looking closer at the mares, xdeep or tecline:) Will let you know what I finally decided on and why:) Thanks!

Ok, round 2 - Objective is t get something I can use for single tank recreational diving, as well as getting a bigger wing for if I decide to use a twin configuration.... If anyone has tried any of these and can provide pros and cons then most obliged:) Cheers

Skip the fancy harnesses. You will be more comfortable without them and a simpler rig makes everything underwater easier. Especially once you start clipping on torches and dsmbs and whatnot. If you have limited shoulder mobility, you can add a buckle to one side of the rig.

I know when you buy your first gun, mountain bike, dive gear, etc. It tends to be like this is the only one I'll ever get, so I need to make the right decision....
But if you stay in the sport its usually the first of many,....
Good you are doing your research,
But don't get to hung up, first good choice is a steel backplate,, that will last you for life, (but I don't know how many backplates I have now)
Harness is replaceable and configurable,
( i am still changing mine and reconfiguring after 20ish years of diving).

Wing is where you are more than likely to change or get different sizes,
(I got a 60lb DiveRight classic was to big for what I needed at first, but I am very happy with it.. 18ish years and still using it..)
if you plan to dive single tank get a smaller wing, or PM me and I'll show you what I did to a larger wing,
When you want to go doubles either get a bigger new wing or you'll know someone that's selling a used one etc,,,,,

Oh
If you are long torso make sure you get a long plate,
makes a huge difference having the waist strap come off closer to your hips,
A real pain when its higher up...

XDeep Zen with SS BP is what you are seeking....get the removable weight pockets as well...If you are long torso like mentioned before go with the long harness....I am 5'9" longer torso and I can go with either small or large...cause I am short

Think about it man if trying to make some fashion statement with those X things
you are paying more money for less metal, taking weight off, for less practicality!

Can't be much good for your suit, a Rube Goldberg cheese grater on your back!
