I need help. I am currently using a Mares MR12 1st stage, with the Mares Orbiter primary and the Axis for my backup. It breathes easily, but every time I have used it it frreflows. Not uncontrolably but enough to cause concern. Right now it's adjusted very low. What I mean by that is that it's VERY hard to breath, but it's not freeflowing. The both regs are like brand new. I only used them last year for a few dives. Anyone else having this problem with Mares? Can anyone tell me how to adjust it so it stops leaking?

I have never had a problem with mine either. Did you take it to the the LDS? What did they have to say?

I was using that stupid octo holder that came with it. This year I have it on a 2 foot hose with a necklace. I haven't used it yet.

Every time I birng it back to the LDS where I bougt it they adjust it. They tell me that its a very sensitive reg. Im getting to the point that Im gonna sell the whole thing and buy a Poseidon Odin and octo.

The LDS's explanation does not make sense. This is one of Mares' best selling models with proven track record. I know a number of divers who have been using the axis and I've never seen one free flow. Take it to a different shop, if you still have the problem try calling Mares and ask them to replace it with a new one.

Thanx Im gonna look into contacting Mares. If I cant get anywehre with all this @#$! Im gonna buy the Poseidon and sell the Mares on Ebay. Only got a few dives with it.

with my Axis Backup when using a scumball. Ended up using that "stupid octo holder" that came with the unit and the freeflow stopped. LDS and other threads on this board say that you need to drill a small hole in scumball to let water into the mouthpiece and equalize the pressure, or something like that. I like my Axis, breathes nice and easy.
