Mares Abyss Hose

I have the Mares Abyss and love it. It breaths very well. The only downside it the hose seems a bit short and stiff. When I turn my head the regulator is pulled/pushed from side to side. Are there different types (stiffness, and length) of after market hoses that I can try? Any suggestions?

Mares recently came out with a new, much softer hose for the Proton series regs.......it might fit your Abyss too. A longer hose will certainly help........as will the installation of a SeaCure mouthpiece.......I've installed SeaCures on all my regs, I refuse to use any other brand of mouthpiece.

Be careful with any other hose. I am not 100% sure of the current generation Abyss but they used to have a hose that was kinda custom to Mares with a Tube coming out of the first stage. You should rip yours off and look first.

What about a 5 or 7 foot hose have you thought of those. They defientely not give any pull.

I have the 5' hose on my Abyss. It is still 1/2", but more manageable.

I had the same problem, and a Sea Cure mouthpiece made all the difference. Strongly recommend it.

Mares Abyss actually has 3 downside: stiff hose, small mouthpiece and heavy second stage. I replaced mine to 5 feet halcyon hose.
