We need to get one for Kat since she still holds the current "Queen of the March list" title. Wonder if Alan would dive with her if she wore it?? hehe

Actually, Kat's boat has a queen who already has this crown......

Yup!! No competing with the 'Queen of the Maximus' for me!!
(Although I've yet to see her wear it under water ... usually she wears her Bozo cap! )

Besides ... I HATE beanies! Can't stand anything hooked under my chin. So I have a couple squid caps. Looks like a baseball cap, but made out of neoprene. Much more compfy!!

Admiting you have a problem is the first step?

It alllll started with a mask.... Mine began leaking like a sieve last trip (not to mention I couldn't hold my gauges out far enough, if you get my drift...), so I began shopping for a mask. Everything was fine, until I saw these nice, light, warm water fins on sale. Hey, no boots, less room and weight in my luggage, I should have them, right? (ca-ching).

I then started thinking (always a bad sign), "I should get some fin socks so I don't get blisters from the new fins" (ca-ching). Ok, pretty mild on the wallet so far, but I need to stop. I still need to get that mask!

Buuuut, I really, really wanted a beanie this year. I got cold last time I dove this early in the year (gotta say this in a whiney voice for full effect), and everyone tells me I'll get even longer dive times with Aldora..... OMG, I found an AWESOME beanie! Ok, Ok, it's extravagant, but I don't really have any other hobbies, and I haven't bought new gear in almost 10 years. Just this One. More. Thing. (yep, I'm rationalizing now, total red flag) (ca-CHING)

Off to the shop to drop off my reg for servicing and get that mask. "Hey, did you notice any water in your air gauge last time you dove? There are some suspicious stains here..." Oh CRAP! Yes, yes I did...I totally forgot! (ca-CHING). At this point I'm distracted by a shiny, new travel BC (the trim pockets have ripped out of mine and it's actually too big for warm water as it was fit for my dry suit, and , and, and...) Oh, holy NO! I get myself under control and run out of the shop. Seriously, I ran.

Tonight I bring down my bag and throw my new fins in. Hmm, I should throw a few more things in....I get my wetsuit. HUH?! What's this?! A large hole has appeared! No, not the holes in the shoulder, armpit or knee, THIS one is from the zipper seam pretty much disintegrating. Sigh. Ok, I know you're 10 years old, I know that I'm 10 years and probably (at least) that many pounds bigger, but seriously?! You couldn't give me 1 more year?! (CA-CHING!)

I'm half way resigned to hitting rock bottom, and just completing the new outfit with that pretty BC. If I do, I'll start a pool, "How much weight to get the kix and her new gear down?", then I'll move onto the remaining 11 steps......

Oh yeah, I still haven't bought the mask.

Just to throw you another wrinkle.... Aldora uses HP steel tanks, so you gotta figure out weights again. See you and all your new gear soon!

Kixy ... it's a LONG downward spiral :shocked2: ..... you either close your eyes and run now, or buy like crazy, and move to Coz before the credit card bill arrives!! (And hope they can't forward the darn thing to a Mexico address, lol!)

Been diving just over 10 years and I think the only things I haven't replaced are my BCD (a Zeagle Zena which I LOVE) and my fins (Apollo Bio-fins - again LOVE!) Of course I've started sorting thru the gear after our recent big move, and in prep for the upcoming Coz trip .... so far my (2nd) Oceanic compass has gone bad , and my retractor for my camera has also gone bad :depressed:. I'm hoping that's it .... because if I start cruising around ScubaToys website, I'm gonna be a goner! :bonk:

5 more sleeps...... actually 4 1/2 Flight leaves 6:30 am Saturday morning...got to be on the road at 4:00 am...does get us in by noon! early enough for a quick checkout dive. can't sleep...........
