Date: Sat. March 19
Dive Location: Vets Park, Redondo Beach
Time: 8:40 am
Bottom Time: 37 mins
Max Depth: 100 ft
Vis: 30 ft
Bottom Temp: 57
Wave height: 1 ft

Comments: DIVEVET'ers met up at Dive N' Surf for the shop's monthly sponsored beach dive. Dive was to take place a Leo C., but due to rain it was called...long way to drive for poor vis.

Back up plan was put into action and group decided on Vets Park. GREAT diving. We had 2 new divers join us for one of my best dives of the year. Seal joined us for most of the dive. We spotted many Sarcastic Fringhead, squid eggs, a bat ray, and it looks like my favorite "short" bug has made permanent home in the concrete "reef" at 65'. Leave him alone, I plan to name him soon. Fun, fun, fun.

Date:3/19/05
Dive Location:Shaws Cove
Time: 9:19 am
Bottom Time:31 minutes
Max Depth:24 feet (give me a break, it was a training dive ;) )
Vis: 10+ (pretty good for there from what I hear)
Wave height:1-3ft
Temp at depth:61
Surface Temp:64

Comments: Despite the day being beautiful, not much wind, the waves pretty manageable, the only negative thing was that the surge was pretty strong. It almost put me up on the reef a few times. Visibility was pretty good so the dive was good, but I dont like mother nature making me get THAT close to the marine life HAHA.

Date:3/20/05
Dive Location:Shaw’s Cove
Time: 8:22 am
Bottom Time:46:40 mm:ss
Max Depth:48 feet
Vis: 5-10’ (better viz closer to shore)
Wave height:2-3ft
Temp at depth: 59
Surface Temp:61

Comments: SNOBORDJON and I met up at Crescent Bay, but the conditions didn’t look that great, so we headed to Shaw’s Cove. Waves in the 2-3’ range, but we were able to time the entry OK. Surge was about 2-4’. Saw the usual suspects…garibaldi, urchins, starfish. I was too busy playing around with my camera and John was hunting down fish to spot any other goodies. John saw a sheephead but only hit the reef :D. Safe to say, all the fish made it home safe today ;) . As we started to head to shore, the sun poked its head out from behind the clouds and looked nice as the rays danced through the water. Wasn’t the best dive, but it was good to get wet. Any safe dive is a good dive. Unfortunately the viz is not up to Casino Point standards.

Anybody up for Catalina? :eyebrow:

Nice report, I was actually going to post one, but now I dont have to. You had to tell everyone about my poor Pole Spear ability. I guess I need to learn somehow. Was a fun dive though

Hey, I FINALLY figured out that "SNOBORDJON" is a "snowboarder" named "John" !!! Unfortunately that doesn't erase all the times that I've read it as a "SNOB" named "JORDAN". :D

Sorry, man, I'll get over it....

Sometimes I wonder what goes on in that mind of yours, but I quickly remind myself that I'm probably better off not knowing. :D
