Renewed my workpermit for a year without a hassle, not being associated with tda/cmas in any way.
A friend in Phuket who works in the dive industry had his work permit renewed for two years yesterday, that's a new development. He's also in no way associated with tda/cmas.

That's good news. The 2-year renewal sounds very promising and hopefully becomes a standard procedure in the not too distant future.
 
Got 2 years on mine the other day,didn't even ask for it, and i haven't got a german bone in my body, and don't one in case any one asks
