Hi all - Headed to the Maldives in March for a special trip. Does anyone have any experience or advice to offer regarding the Dhoni Stella 1 live aboard and/or Constance Moofushi and Six Senses Laamu? Any specific dive site recommendations? We’d love to see hammerheads.
    Thx!

Looking for reviews as well. We already have a week on a sailboat in April, but looking to do a liveaboard in late March for a week. This is important, so want to know who has best reputation??

I have been on the following Maldivian LOBs in the last 12 months:
    - Carpe Novo x 3
    - Carpe Diem x 1
    - Carpe Vita x 1
    - Emperor Leo x 1
    - Emperor Orion x1

In the next 12 months I am booked for:
    - Carpe Novo x 3
    - Maldives Aggressor x 1

I don’t know who has the best reputation and the answer may depend on whom you talk to.

I've dived with ScubaSpa. Happy to answer any specific questions. We found the boat was lovely and the diving good. Customer service via email a bit hit and miss though. Sadly no hammerheads on our trip. Night dive at Alimatha with the nurse sharks was very cool though.

I've stayed at Komandoo and have Vakarufahli and Mirihi booked for this year. Mirihi is very highly regarded as a diving location. Again, happy to answer any particular questions but without knowing what people are looking for it seems a bit self centred to write all about my experience.

We just booked with Blue Force One - will have to give updates when we return next April. The second week, we're on a sailboat, so we'll have two different experiences. We will dive a little off the sailboat, maybe 3-4 dives total. Looking forward to it!

    Thanks everyone!

I've been diving with Azalea Cruise in Mar 2017. They mostly doing full charters. It's luxury boat with great staff and diving experience.
Another luxury boat is Scubaspa. They have 2 sister boats: Ying and Yang. Except of diving, they provide SPA and Yoga facilities.
If you're looking for only diving, Carpe Diem or Carpe Novo should suit you. They have different routes around a year, including deep North and South. There are a lot of discounts as well. But these boasts are booked quite fast.

Not quite sure the term 'except for diving' is what you mean? ScubaSpa (probably obviously given the name) offers diving - there is a separate Dhoni which is very nicely equipped but there is also on on board spa and they do offer yoga. Sadly yoga was at the same time as the morning dives so it was one or the other.

If I'm going to be brutal I was not super impressed with the spa. I found the masseuse I had was not that skilled. I did not bother with any additional treatments after that.

Now the spa at Komandoo was a different story - that was excellent!

Sbubaspa promote conception 5* floating resort. So they have special packages for divers and non-divers (in this case people can take 8 SPA treatment during a 7N trip. In the SPA menu you can find around 15 different treatment.

But yeah, in resort SPA is a different story.

We’ve done moofushi as well as arthuruga and Kandolhu which are all in the same general area. Forget about hammerheads. You might hear about one sen on a dive here or there but they are rare and not something to plan for.

Moofushi is great. The dive crew are very experienced and know what is around at any time. There are some great nearby dive sites (under 30 min) and plenty inside of an hour ride which is the perfect distance to relax. Outside of diving, moofushi has the best included wine selection we have seen at any resort anywhere in the world. Last I check it was 300+ bottles. If you like wine then consider that a plus. The food is very good and while buffet style they change it up daily with a different chef taking a day of the week.

Since you are going in March, you are at the top of manta season. The manta point is practically swimmable from moofushi beach. That means you can dive it when the conditions are best and the crowds least. That is a big bonus if you like mantas. They also have scooters if that’s your thing.

    Thanks
    Rick
