That really has nothing to do with this incident but you can see a few discussed on posts 11 thru 20 at Dressel Cozumel - Gas Warning!
So this event had nothing to do with monoxide poisoning? I now see on your other posts/comments that the warning about monoxide is added to any comment you make. My question might seem basic but this information is new to me and likely most people without much experience/people without accounts looking up risks of diving. Clarity is key my friend, never hurts to share safety info.
 
Immersion pulmonary edema, while possible, is less likely due to the fact that she had made 24 dives over ten days immediately previously with no ill effects...
The number of dives done over whatever period has nothing whatsoever to do with the chance of getting IPE. IPE just hits without rhyme or reason as far as can be deduced.
 
Without more information, it doesn't sound right to me. They were diving in warm water and had successfully completed the dive with no symptoms during the dive. It wasn't until on the surface that the problem arose. Granted, my suppositions are based upon scant details provided by the traumatized buddy.
