I have also found that taking a daily B-50 vitamin helps with the noseums. It works for some, but not others. I will always use DEET at night to protect against the mosquitoes. I've also used Neem Oil, but my husband can't stand the smell, so I have to apply it outside.

I think chloroquine was pretty cheap in my local drug store - fortunately my cost for a generic script with my insurance is only $10 but I think the cash price was about $30 if I remember the label correctly from last year.
Don - why not get a script?

When I have stayed longer than anticipated or not remembered to bring my script with me I have bought chloroquine on Roatan, I think it was about 1-2 dollars per pill. If it were not so cheap for me in the US I might just buy one for the first week and the rest on the Island Of course this is not recommended by any American doctors or pharmacists and I am simply letting you know what I have done or might do.

I don't have a Pcs card and my medical deductible is large. I ordered online. When it gets here, I'll make sure it's the real thing. Found "Off" in 40% Deet at Walmart even tho it's the dead of winter so I am covered there. Got a can to leave by room door and a can for the dive locker. Big new cans, glad to share, but we use a lot of that in April here anyway. I have bio-friendly sunblock and with the sun low in the sky, it seems more needed for rays coming in under the canopy and reflecting off of the water than in summertime. I'm good on mstevens' list above: Hepatitis A, typhoid, MMR, and tetanus-diphtheria plus Hep B which he did not mention, other than typhoid which I have not done since the Marines (Nixon administration) but I may do the 5 year shot; not a bad idea really. Never had a problem with sand bugs at FIBR that I recall, nothing like I did when I stayed on that sandbar in Utila. Got my $10 coffee maker and my roomie says he's a coffee drinker. Got thermoses and plastic jugs for bottled water. Know where my passport is.

I guess I am pretty good to go. Just need to hit the gym and shape up some :shocked2: then pack, unplug everything, turn off water heater, set thermostat on 40F. :pilot:

Some folks recommend Cutter Advanced with Picaridin. I can't seem to find that at Walmart though. Anyone have suggestions for retailers for that product?

Yeah, found it online. I'm just too cheap to pay shipping. I doubt I'll find it in any local stores though (especially at this time of year).

Let's hang this in the dive shop...

You don't need all that...just go down to the restaurant when you wake up and grab a pot full of great Honduran coffee and bring it back to your room! Hubby always wakes me with a fresh pot and we sit out on the balcony and greet each AMAZING day in paradise :D
