i want to hit as many birds with one stone since i will already be in the visayas. i have free ticks to manila-cebu, cebu manila and this cannot be changed. i am planning to do bohol first, then malapascua then maybe moalbal. this will be a logistical nightmare for sure and i only have 4-5 days to pull it off

Pards, for 4-5 days? just do Bohol/Panglao/Balicasag. Travel between diving destinations would eat up your diving time. Malapascua would need a minimum of 2 1/2 days (travel and diving); Pescador? 1 1/2 to 2 days (3-4 hours from Metro Cebu);and Bohol, 3 days (Fast Ferry to Bohol is 1 hour and 40 minutes), there are 4 to 5 world class dives sites in Balicasag alone or so they say. Go figure pards, no need to bang your head.

If you do a dive safari, its doable. You can hit Bohol, Moalboal, and Mactan 4 days.

My apologies for assuming everyone is familiar about dive safari. In Cebu, practically every dive shop offers a dive safari. In a dive safari, you go from island to island, diving different spots and doing 4 - 5 dives a day. At the end of the day, you stay in a resort or pitch a tent in some remote beach and repeat the process for several days. Its a great way to hit a lot of islands in a short amount of time.

Here are some links that offers dive safaris:
http://www.savedra.com/safari.htm - You start in Moalboal and they drop you off in Mactan at the end of the safari.

http://www.sea-explorers.com/e/index.html
http://www.malapascua.net/index1.html - If you go with Exotic, you basically have to adopt a spartan lifestyle for the duration of the trip. No thank you, I admit I'm a wuss.

I hope this helps..

thanks this seems like the best choice for me:)

Malapascua would be my choice but I haven't been to the other sites honestly. I've been diving off of Malapascua for four trips for about a week each time. I like the variety of dive sites and don't want to hop around the islands eating up relaxation time between dives. I recommend Thresher Shark divers, small, personal and near the places to stay on the island. They always take good care of me. Usually don't have the big groups like the other dive shops. It all just depends on what you want to see - small, medium or big stuff. Gato Island is a must for the macro and Monad Shoal for the thresher sharks, manta rays and hammerheads (just depends on the time of year).
