Thnx for all the feedback. Seems I may need to put together a different setup for drysuit diving, or maybe should've gone with the new s-tek fins that let you add weights(?). But I think I should get my technique down before shopping for new gear.

Yep I'm taking drysuit first. I booked my trip and Fundamentals class before I came across a local drysuit primer course.

Unrelated, and dont want to keep making new threads. Would it be too much if I do night dives during the Fundamentals course? I want to get as much time in the water as possible and figure it may be a good chance to practice more, especially under the cover of night when no one can see me 😬
You could also ask your instructor if you can borrow a pair of jetfins for the class if he deems that you might benefit from it. (I think he will...)

Also...don't count on any diving after class. You need the rest!!!

I took Fundies twice. First time in a wetsuit. Earned a provisional the first time and then missed my time limit to upgrade (it was during COVID). My recommendation is do it in a wetsuit, single-tank. The class will kick your ass and if you are not super confident in a drysuit you will struggle with the very task-loady ascents (example: Ascend stopping every 10 feet as a team while sharing air and deploying a DSMB). Lot of stuff to do there and I think if you struggle simultaneously with dumping gas out of the drysuit and generally dealing with buoyancy with it, it may impair your ability to be successful in completing the class. You can try to go for a recreational pass and then do an upgrade to technical endorsement later in doubles and drysuit. Again, doing it single-tank, wetsuit does remove some of the skills required for endorsement.
