Lycra socks vs neoprene

I just use my 7mm boots in MX. They work fine and most of my cave dives down there are 2-3+hrs anyway

First time I wore my hiking socks for diving was life changing. I used to regularly get blisters on my toes and wool socks instantly solved it forever

Will these booties work with over the foot fins as well? Which booties are suggested?

No, a full foot fin will only fit over lycra socks. I use the same fin in both cold and warm water and just change the bootie.

Why are you all wearing socks under your booties?

I've always just worn low cut in summer and hi top in winter without socks (open heel fins).

I travel with my regular open-heel fins and use booties, which are much better on hot or sharp surfaces. I also have a neoprene socks that I really like a lot. They stretch over the foot, so they prevent chafing under almost all circumstances. Wet wool tends to bunch and sag and won't compete with neoprene for longevity.

Lycra socks in cold water help with warmth. They are instrumental in donning wetsuits both wet and dry. I take them off after donning wetsuit in warm water, but I was just informed that leaving them on helps with soft tissue damage caused by sand in the low cut bootie. I use the low cut bootie so I can use the same open heel fins in cold and warm water.

I use Lycra socks. The skin on my feet gets tender and chaffs. I use Lycra socks to prevent that and they work.

For thermal protection, I think neoprene socks would be superior.

I wear fourth element rock hoppers (below the ankle) with rk3's in warm water and love them. They are incredibly easy to put on/off even wet and have never regretted them.

At home in the cold it's over the ankle and wetsuit or a drysuit though as my ankles don't appreciate the UK seas in the rick hoppers
