Hey,

Just thought I'd get a temperature check on anyone wanting to dive Lover's this Sunday. I'm waiting for a dive buddy to give me the green light this Sunday but if he can't come I'd like to see if anyone would like to join me for 2 dives?

I picked up the VT3 Oceanic PDC and am eager to try it out.

Anyway, two weekends ago Lover's was just beautiful compared to Break water which got hit by red tide.

So does anyone want to get their feet wet at Lovers?

Thanks,

MG

p.s I'm a beginner just 11 dives under my belt...

argghhhh. diving this weekend sounds like a blast. Regretably, I can't though b/c of prior commitments and my husband's gear being in FL still!

Darn,

I was hoping to finally meet you and gain some diving knowledge. It's always fun to learn from others, the wealth is just endless.

Anyways, I just got off the phone with Glenn's Aquarius II, and he was nice enough to walk out and check conditions for me while on the phone.

Conditions are looking really nice, it's really really FLAT!!! Water visibility is 20+ feet at Break Water, that looks like some fun diving if she will hold out for this weekend.

But you know how Monterey can be, great at one moment and then go sour the next minute you look away.

P.S
Laguna Seca is causing the entrance to BW to be closed in the early morning and Glenn's is pissed because of that. But he's going to be staying late on Saturday to make sure everyone can get fills for Sunday.

Mike

It's not Laguna Seca that's closing access to Breakwater AND LOVERS Sunday morning, it's the
Big Sur Half Marathon.

Thanks Chuck,

I didn't quite hear him since he was talking rather quickly as he walked out to the shore line, the reception got hazy.

But what I did hear was 20+ visibility and Flat really Flat conditions......

MG :D

p.s
Chuck does the Marathon usually ruin the parking for Lovers? Since I want to dive Sunday I would hate to drive all the way out there just to not be able to park close to my dive site.

I would love to but I have class on Sun. :(

Are you still enjoying the camera? I don't think I saw seal and shark videos...did you get them on YouTube? I'd love to see any new pics and video you take too.

Happy diving!

Hi Michelle,

Darn you cannot make it either. :( You have class?

About the videos I haven't been able to compress them down to Youtube limits. My encounter with the Seal is combined with me playing with a Jelly fish so it's kinda long.

Now before you hit me over the head for touching a jelly fish, let me explain. I gently reached over to it's bell and very gingerly knudged it to a free floating position.

My dive buddy went nuts as you can literally hear him in the water saying, "STOP WHAT ARE YOU DOING"!!! He thought they sting on the bell.

Here's the course map Mike:

It doesn't look good for the morning. Yeah, I just talked to Glenn too and he went off about the race AGAIN for about ten minutes!! Hehe, I love that guy!

Zen,

Thanks for the feedback on the race this weekend. Looks like Sunday is going to be rotten to find parking. Ah man I was really wanting to dive this weekend.

I'm going to see what other divers say and then make my move. Hopefully something comes up where we know about the secret parking spot for divers only!!! :14:

Come on lets confess and tell each other how to secretly get into the water on Sunday; I know there are secrets to be told....

MG
p.s
Do you know between what hours this marathon is going to take place for Sunday? Can we join the marathon and jump into our dive sites on the way? Sorry just trying to relieve some tension....

So, the info I have is:

Streets closed from 6am-10:30, some streets, including the tunnel, will reopen at 8am and the main race is at 9:30am.

DISCLAIMER: This is the info that I have received and is fragmented. But Glenn read some(like the closed streets from 6-8am and Lighthouse Tunnel opening after 8am) off of some information he received regarding the race.
