I put this in my dive report, but figured it warranted a section to itself. Apparently my weight pouch fell out in about 15 feet of water directly from the plam trees next to Vallecitos ave. It is black with bright green handles. It is for an Oceanic Chute II bc and has one of those lame white sticks that hold it in. Please let me know if you find it! Thanks!

I also ordered a new one since I need it before i head to Mexico on Friday. Booo to loosing wieghts.

Don't drop yer weights, you silly bugger!

(but I'll keep an eye out, just in case. That should be worth at least a pint at the Shakey)

Cheers,
Peter

Yes, I am very grateful I dropped it at 15 ft and not 65....I am thinking about modifying my BC to have avelcro strap go over the weight pouch insertion point to help it from ever happening again. Not sure if this is a good idea of not

Almost certainly not; the best thing is to simply get comfortable with the gear. Don't feel too bad about losing the pouch, by the way; everyone loses stuff.

I feel pretty comfortable with it. I have been told that the stick mechanism used to hold the wieghts in are not very good. Its a common complaint on the BC.

Why are you fixing or modifing your BC? Are you nuts! :11:

If it's defective, send the S**T back to the manufacture or dive shop you bought it from.

I gave Uwatec lots of S**T when my AZ-nitrox failed at depth.

I would never buy a replacement part for malfuntioning equipment.

Do your family and yourself a good deed and replace it with one you can depend your life on.

Take it easy.
I have a Oceanic Probe BC with those same wight pockets snd it works great.
The white sticks that hold the pocket in properly have to be put in right is all. I have probably 150 dives with the BC not to mention counltess hours in the pool as an instructor and I broke a stick once. It was when putting the weight pocket in before the dive and was my fault. I have 3 extra sticks in my dive kit just in case I break one again. That weight system is reliable and safe IME if you thread the stick properly.

I like the design of the wieght pockets much better than velcro, as velcro wears out over time and you never know when it may fail and you can not replace the velcro.

I am not sure a velcro strap would be wise. One key on weights is that they are easy to ditch. Adding an extra strap could cause problems in an emergency. Just make sure you thread the stick in right and it won't fall out.
