my perspective
1. Did it ever occur to you guys that maybe the kid did some shooting. The fact that the older of the two was army means nothing if he wasnt the shooter everytime.
I am sick of the media pointing out that this sniper was ARMY trained and an expert shot. Just because there are some killings and one of the people arrested was army doesnt mean he is the shooter.
2. Muslim or not, if they are terrorists then we need to dispose of them. So far though, they have been muslims. However, before you flame me i agree that most muslims are not bad people.

Actually, it was reported that the shooter in the Alabama liquor store robbery was the kid, so...

Chrispete, you are correct. The "kid" was responsible for that shooting so we must assume that it's not the only one he's responsible for.
I really don't care what race they are, but I'm interested to know why they did this to begin with. I heard something about a ransom demand, but I haven't followed up on it.
The point is, the guys got too "cocky" and started getting sloppy since we couldn't find them after numerous shootings. Luckly he was able to give the police a tip himself which led to his arrest (thanks to the helpful trucker who spotted them). They had also mentioned that our kids weren't safe, so I can only imagine what their next step may have been.
They both get whatever comes to them. I personally don't think that they should be killed for this, but they should remain alive and do their time. Killing them is an easy way out of their punishment, but then again the angry side of us wants to see them hang!

sorry...........I know you can not believe everything you read in the press but he is reported as being a supporter of the september attacks
don't you think it is a little coincidental?
He fights in the gulf, comes back, changes his name to mohamed, then just when you guys start getting attacked, he starts his little campaign of terror.
there is more to this than meets the eye
and it probably is just the tip of the ice berg.
we have had this for years (decades), if they carry on like the IRA, which lets face it never did anything like those nutters, you have a very long and winding road ahead, so be prepared!

I think by you guys he is saying the united states!
People through-out history have Twisted religions to further their own agendas! AlQueda is twisting islam for its use.
It does not make islam bad. they AlQueda are bad.
Just like any other cult or sect in any religion that has beliefs like these!!!

Everyone,
These shootings and murders were heinous. The perpetrators deserve the most severe of punishments. If these two are guilty, may they be sentenced to either life in prison, or the death penalty -- whichever is most appropriate and most morally justifiable.
But the heat of your debate overlooks a few points, the most important of which is "Innocent till PROVEN guilty." And it also has generated some emotional, rather than logical, arguments. Including:
(1) "Now im not saying just because he is muslim he is an al queda.But look at the facts.He does believe in the muslim religion and even changed his last name to accomodate it."
Changing your name does not damn you as -- nor even suggest that -- you are a criminal. For example: Cassius Clay equals Mohammed Ali does not equal Al Queda. Lew Alcindor equals Kareem Abdul Jabaar does not equal....etc.

Simple fact. Just like the fact that he served for his country in the Gulf War. Negative connotation, interpretation or innuendo is in the mind of the reader/viewer/listener.

Maybe the most frightening sentence I have read in this thread. Try substituting any racial/ethnic/religious or gender group in place of "Muslims".....When an individual commits a crime, it usually bears NO reflection on his peer or demographic group. For example: Charles Manson is a monster. Do we admit only begrudgingly that most white men are not bad people? No -- that's a given. As it should be for Muslims and all other demographic groups.

In school, did you ever study the Inquisitions? To name only one atrocity in several millenia that was committed in the name of religion.
I do not mean this as a personal attack on any of you. My intent is to point out the steadily escalating emotions behind this thread, to show that such emotion can cloud judgment, and that clouded judgment threatens real justice, for those involved in these specific crimes, and for all people.

A final (for now) thought: Let us hope that police and prosecutors have followed all relevant laws in capturing and incarcerating these men, so that if they are found guilty, the courts are free to convict and punish them as deserved.
