What kind of training are you looking for? If it is open water then I agree with Tavi that doing it in rental gear is best. If you are looking at advanced training I wouldn't do it with anyone who didn't know what a bp and wings are.
This is not a great problem. I can drive the 1 1/2 hours to a dealer who can service them.Originally posted by large_diver
Java,
I think your concern about not having an LDS close by that sells this is valid.
You are going to want the wing/inflator inspected at least every 2 years.....
This is my main concern. Since the 3 local dealers I spoke to seem to have no idea what a BP/W is all about, I assume that there are no local divers using this equipment (or they are hiding well).
More importantly, it helps to have divers nearby who have experience with this gear. If you are relying 100% on the internet to learn how to set up and use the gear -- not a good thing IMHO. Is it impossible -- no. But it sure helps.
My $0.02.

Let me lay your fears to rest. A BP and wings setup is easy to dive with. Remember that this is what technical divers use, and the hallmark of technical equipment is simple, easy and safe. They don't go out of their way to make things complex (well, most don't).Originally posted by java

I will not rely on just the internet. The net opened my eyes. From here on I can use common sense to try to locate achieve what I want
