Good day all,

Im trying to ID what looked like a worm hanging on to a bit of coral, about 3 inches long at 40 feet deep and what all the little things running around in the dive torch where during my dive. I got so annoyed at them by the end i became a mass murderer and fed loads of the them to any Basket starts i found by shining my light near it and watching the slaughter!

Thanks

Bloodworms.

They're little polychaete worms that wiggle up from the sand and mob any light source.

The red worm is a Bearded Fireworm, a bristle worm. Those white bristles are sharp, will penetrate your skin, inject a toxin and break off in your skin. Don't touch!

The first image is a fireworm It often feeds on the gorgonian.

Awesome guys thanks for the quick responses! im off to read up on both these guys
