I'm trying to find a liveaboard mini-safari for mid-September that hits Elphinstone, where ever else it goes is fine. We can do 3 or 4 days and could easily get to Marsa Alam, Hurghada, or El Quseir to start.

Maybe it's too early, but I can't find anything published now except from Sharm when searching Google. The Sharm trip is a quite small boat and is to Ras Mohammed and Tiran. I'm thinking I may rather just do day trips from Marsa Alam than the liveaboard from Sharm.

Are there some operators that some of you can suggest who maybe don't have websites or don't come up on Google?

@Gaijinsan

I stayed at Marina Lodge in Port Ghalib and did a 3 tanker with Emperor Divers before going out on a liveaboard. The hotel was fine, relatively inexpensive, and Emperor is based there. Emperor was a fine operator, good, inexpensive lunch on the 3 tanker. They have special trips to Elphinstone and Abu Dabab in addition to regular local sites. They also have a house reef and RIB diving that I did not have time to try out. Not sure if this would satisfy your needs. Emperor Divers and Marina Lodge Hotel April 2016

Good diving, Craig

Scubadada is right, there is usually no safari less than one week.

Thus you'd better finding a divecenter nearby, all of them can arrange a one-day trip to Elphinstone.

The RSDS Marsa Shagra camp is a good jumping point for Elphinstone -- it's more or less straight out from the camp. They normally run two speedboats every morning (07:00 and 09:00 if memory serves me right).
Also a nice house reef with unlimited diving for guests.
I have stayed there and would recommend it. You can do a load of other coastal reefs on their boats too and that might give more variety than staying out would. The house reef is very good.
