Hi All:

Does anyone have any information about whether you are allowed to dive from the State Beach at Lake Sunapee State Park? Thanks in advance.

- David

Can't tell you rather you can dive there or not I can tell you Lake Sunapee is not a very good dive. We did one dive there a few years ago and spend an hour UW dodging boats and saw one fish at a distance. The visibility was very good but as my buddy said we could see nothing from further away.

The other thing we have found in general, if there are lifeguards present, no diving.

Dive Lake Winni, Winnisquam or Newfound much better lakes. IMHO.

you could try calling eddie burke at aqua venturesdive center at 603 596 5100 and if any one can help you out it would be him. his store is closed on wed. and he doesn't open til after noon during the week.

Yes there is diving in Lake Sunapee. There are some shipwrecks, and a few other things to see. Can't speak firsthand, I've been wanting to go sometime myself.

I found a review (a little old, but still good) at:

I know LaPorte’s Dive shop is right on the lake, I've stopped by there a few times to get info. Their hours are a little sporatic, but he checks phone messages regularly. He's got a great map for sale with depths and good diving sites in the lake.

LaPorte’s Skindiving Shop

Post if you find out more info, or PM me I'd love to join you if your planning a dive.
