One of the good things about a MK7 is that you can usually sell it for what you've paid for it-so it's really not much of a gamble even if it doesn't work out.

I'm pretty confident that the vibration will travel down the length of the hose so you could hear it resonating in the second stage.

This one Scuba Diving Regulator Scubapro Dive MK7 1st Vintage Honker First Stage Pro | eBay appears to be a thin yoke version so you should be able to get it for less.
 
Perhaps an old doublehoser with a hookah port like the DA aquamaster,would work if memory serves they start breathing harder around those kinds of pressures,you'd prolly have to make a special harness yourself though.....


Edit: nvm this won't work as the hookah port bypasses the first stage using only LP air source.

As unbalanced diaphragm regs, IP rises as the tank empties so they breathe easier with low tank pressure, but you got it with the bit about the hookah port supplying IP air.
