The Reef Environmental Education Foundation, the folks who do the Great Annual Fish Count, have a page with quizzes and ID guide galleries. The new england gallery is "coming soon".

Fishbase -- 26,700 Species, 74,710 Synonyms, 125,100 Common names, 31,770 Pictures, 25,955 References,

The MBL Marine Species Index which sometimes works. This is a database of approximately 210 invertebrates and fish that are collected or maintained by the Aquatic Resources Division of the Marine Resources Department.
