Your wife cave dives, too, doesn't she? In which case the answer is a resounding NO.

She does but sombody has to stay here to take care of the horses and the dogs. The horses and dogs were her idea so I should get to go diving! Besides, i might decide to do some big dives and I might need her equipment.

Besides, you can't take off for a month . . . we're starting into show season, and people are going to need their horses reshod!

I don't want to make this an arguement against going to Mexico and the caves there are beautiful. However, I doubt you'd be doing any high flow stuff in the early part of your training (cavern) in Florida either. You certainly won't be doing any mandatory decompression early in training. I'm not a cave instructor but I don't think it's allowed until near the end. Depending on the instructor and the student, you may not do any at all though your contingincy planning may account for the possibility.

...

Now you did it, I want to go cave diving!

First, let me start out by saying that 3 weeks from tomorrow I will be in JB!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

Okay, got that off my chest.

Decompression is not allowed by NACD until full cave, and then I think it's only allowed if the diver is trained for it. As for high flow. I went just past the grim reaper in Devil's for my 4th cavern dive. But this was just an introduction to intro level. No skills were practiced or evaluated at this point, other than getting into the darn thing! But it did make me want to continue the training even more.

apprentice starts some deco stuff...ask jeandiver or h2andy exactly what, but jean was showing me her papers before she took app. last month.

lynne, either way, it's hard to go wrong. johnny richards does cavern and intro in ginnie, but i'm glad i did lower flow systems for that (orange grove, peacock, & cow). there are plenty of lower flow systems to learn in in nfl, but i'd love love love to see the mexican caves.

my goal is to have some semblance of grace going into and coming out of the ear...'cause i certainly don't! waah! i'm with mike! i wanna be there now! now now now!

hee hee - 3 more weeks...

yes, we did decompression incidental to the dive, but only such deco as was
accrued diving doubles to 1/3rds (in other words, no stages).

all in all, i only did one deco dive, with less than 5 minutes deco. it was
fun carrying the O2 and feeling all grown up, though

for each of our cave classes (intro and apprentice) johnny selected a
fast flow system (Devil's) and a slow flow system (Peacock). he likes to
see you in action in both.

for cavern, he took us to Manattee, which is somewhat of a medium flow
cavern (the cave rips)

I just got back from getting my butt kicked by Johnny Richards in my Apprentice class (I passed!). Deco is allowed.

I also did cavern with him as well as Intro. You will see high flow in every class. Johnny says you should be diving 60% high flow and 40% low flow to get all you techniques down.

He is a very good instructor but a word of caution, if you do the class private, prepare to get hammered!! Never a second to gather yourself. (the only way I would want this level of training myself).
Task-loading out the wazoo!

ya... i took Intro solo with him

:crying:

i'm over it now

and congratz on passing! way to go
