You didn't say are you doing your training in Ginnie Springs? If so they have cabins there that sleep 8 for $175 that have kitchens and laundry. So if you can double up it becomes affordable for what it sounds like your looking for. There is also laundry at the site itself if you just want to do it there.

Again......look at Rustic Inn. It's not necessary to settle for "not so bad".

Or 5 kids next door, tents, crowds, gear hanging from the porch ceiling, etc. Rustic Inn is nicely decorated, clean, high ceilings, private in a natural setting, diver aware. I don't have any interest in this place by the way, but have stayed there a couple of times.

TSandM's suggestions sound spot on as usual. I still stand by my strong dislike for the High Springs Country Inn and the three motels just off I-75. Once again they have not been refurbished in decades and I am not rewarding that.

Just to be fair, the owner (Sam I guess from reading the other posts) was very nice and accomendating when checking in. Also, for the record I actually highly, highly respect nearly all the hard working and generally highly educated folks who have emigrated from India the past generation. I actually much prefer them to a whole lot of indigeous Americans who increasingly wish to be taken care by the our goverment in lieu of working their fair share. Sorry for the digression. Scott

He rents out a manufactured home (owned by a Russian diver) right across the street from his place in Ft. White. Its a bigger place with beds everywhere but he usually rents it out by the diver at $25/night.

Full kitchen, new washer and dryer, wi-fi + a big screen TV (bring your own DVD's.

Just make sure to call in advance and then a day before you arrive to re-confirm.

Lots of covered space under a large "car port" to hang things up.

I will be in High Springs Jan 15-20 with a buddy for cave training, and we're looking for places to stay. Any suggestions?

I'd be careful with Dive Outpost in February. There is no heat in the cabins. (Or, at least, there was no heat in ours, when the outside temp was 23 degrees.) At another time of year, it would be a delightful place to stay, because it's very social, with the community kitchen and the evening fires. I enjoyed meeting the other divers there. But doggone it, it was COLD!

Lynne, I think a major contributor to your experience was that you and Peter stayed in one of the larger cabins. The bunk house isn't too bad. The small heaters actually work pretty well in the bunk house because the rooms are smaller.

23degrees celcius is pretty nice :rofl3::rofl3:

I will be at Ginnie for Cavern with Johnny Richards in April. I am also thinking of camping. I am used to camping as it was my number one hobby before I got into diving.
