Is anyone actually catching any Lobstahs? I have yet to see a decent post about a good day's catch.

Being new to diving and bug hunting (without traps), I have been surprised at how many there are and how easy they are to find.

Having said that... catching them is a bit trickier. I'm getting better but I can see many of you out there are light years ahead of me in both diving & Lobstering experience. Any recent tales to share about bugs?

I dive Brant Rock as often as I can but would love to know of other local spots that may produce more. Scituate, Duxbury, Marshfield, etc. (as with all shore divin, parking is a bonus)

Thanks for any info & advice.

I'm having an OK year. The numbers aren't really what I would like, but, I have taken a good number of big ones.

Lots of eggers recently though. This time of year many of the more popular spots are fished out so you need to either go off a boat or travel to more remote areas (which on the SS ussually means tresspassing or parking illegally).

This is my first year lobstering...I've taken about 10 so far this year. I've never gotten more than 2 at a time. I've found that catching them is the easy part....finding legals is the hard part.

Right now there are an enormous number of eggers.

If you want to catch lobster in the local areas, try getting in at sunrise. This is when I've had my best luck. You can start catching 30 mins before sunrise. Plus when all of your coworkers laugh at you and call you crazy for getting up at 3:30am, you can say, "What have you accomplished this morning? I've caught dinner for my family and it's only 8am!"

this year has been my best yet. On average about a dozen a day, but thats with two or three dives. Lots of three and four pounders. This is the first year that ive had access to boats, which has helped out alot. Monday dove pebble beach. Only shorts and eggers. Alot of effort for no results. Had to stop work early today due to rain but thinking of heading to folly cove just to get wet. Also bring a light it helps alot.

Hello, My buds and I average around five to ten each on two tanks. We dive mostly Glouchester and Rockport. They say its a slow year. Its only my second so i really cannot compare much....We are seeing several large eggers.......Stay safe

Let's see. I've not been trying really, just if I happen to see one, I take it. I've got about 10 or so this season.

Bushman and I fish our traps together. We have about 96 this year, 140 lbs I believe. average has been 8 of my traps active, and 9 of bushman's active [average was 2 and 9 last year]. On labor day weekend we had a good haul on friday; 6 keepers, 2 shorts, 1 v-notch and 2 eggers. saturday was 2 shorts. sunday was 2 shorts, one egger and one keeper. and we recovered the lost traps on sunday to bring us up to 10 and 9. last weekend I didn't get the counts but bushman got the last bouy that was entangled [we had recovered the trap the week before], so this weekend we'll be up to 10 and 10.

It appears Mr. Soggy is correct. Two tanks at STB on Friday and all we saw were berried females, shorts or 'keepers' w/ one claw just growing back. One of the eggers was a good 7+ pounder while most of the shorts we fished out while be good to go next summer. Also, surface conditions were a little rough, but viz was still good. Better to have dived than not dived at all!

Two tanks today at Plum. Calm seas like glass. Five lobsters between two of us. Loaded with large eggers. We caught and released at least ten. Many over five pounds. Water was 59 Deg at 38 feet. Nice dive

Reports are that someone is messing with diver's cars, while they are diving at Lane's Cove. Putting boards with nails next to tires and covered with grass and leaves, so flats are recieved when driving away. In years past, divers cars have been vandalized- scratched, flat tires, broken glass. Too bad, it is a very nice dive spot, but they don't like divers there.
Short of diving in shifts and reporting the vandalism to the police, there does not seem to be much that can be done.
