December in the Caymans is always iffy with the chance of northers. Our first trip to LC in 2010 the day we arrived boats hadn't been out for three days. We were lucky. The first time out was the next day on our first day of diving. The seas were still rough The diving was excellent . . . until the mooring line broke while in the middle of our second dive. That was an experience trying to recover divers on the drift in high seas and getting close to shore.

We had divers out south this morning. It was dead calm. By the end of the second dive the winds changed and it was crap. Cancelled the afternoon charter until tomorrow afternoon. It’s rare that we don’t have a an option even if for just a day. No one their guests to have a bad time or see their boat damaged or crew banged up. It’s not often we have to cancel but across the board we all will.

Sure hope it lays down soon for the sake of those on vacation and those who depend on diving to make a living.

West Side has calmed considerably this am. Several boats headed out from West Bay Dock . Water still rough at LHPT and TR( Macabuca). Ollen and crew busy with clean up bright and early. Hope to be up and running soon!!!

West side has calmed down a lot but viz might be off. Still looks milky. It was at Cracked Conch mid week and people were canceling reservations because of the wind. The Westin beach was closed. It’s sad for all the visitors and for all of the tourism businesses especially this week which is one of the biggest of the year.

Maybe the videos and pictures make it all seem a bit more dramatic, but based on the forecasts most operators never expected to halt diving for more than 1-2 days. We can mostly find a calm side to dive off as we can move boats around. Shore diving maybe being out a bit longer, as the most shore diving sites are on the (north) west side of the island, so get most influenced by passing northwesters.
What made this last two days bit more difficult was that the wind shifted around a bit so there was less of a consistent calm side to plan your boat dives at, as @caydiver mentioned in her description of the south side dive she scheduled.

Most operators are running boats today from West Bay, and shore diving should be good again soon too.

Macabuca deck is a bit banged up, but bar is ok so hopefully they should be up and running soon too. Please visit them when open again, they can probably use visitors spending some of their vacation budget there!

They are opening up the upper outside deck at the Cracked Conch right now on the live webcam, see the link below. The Macabuca Bar is closed right now but it's only 9:50 am in Cayman and you can't sell liquor on Sunday Mornings, so maybe it will open later.
