you got some nice pictures there. What was the visibility? We will be there in 2nd wk of Aug.

Thanks very much. The visibility was good, but by Little Cayman standards, just ok. I think that it was about 80 feet on most of the dives. Our previous trip in 2007 had visibilities that were routinely better than 100 feet. It had been raining on this more recent trip, and that might have been the difference. In any case, the visibility was nothing to complain about.

Really nice photos. What kind of camera setup do you have?

That is very nice of you. I have a Nikon D200 in a Subal housing, and two Ikelite DS125 strobes. The wide angle shots were taken with a Tokina 10-17 fisheye zoom (how appropriate, right? :eyebrow:) and a Nikon 60mm macro lens.

I'm at LCBR right now. The squid are at Coconut Walk.

Thanks for that update. My logbook noted that there were squid on the morning dive, but not quite specific enough.

Not a problem. We just got home last night after 10 days there. It was our first time, and we want to go back.

I shoot the D200 in a Sea & Sea housing. The 10-17 tokina is my favorite lens.

I agree. It is a great lens. The macro stuff is so good at Little Cayman that I find that I am always frustrated, regardless of which lens I take.

I know what you mean. We did Mixing Bowl, and found the little yellow seahorse off the wall. Naturally I was shooting the Tokina.

When we went back I had my 105mm on, but we couldn't find the seahorse. We did find a jawfish with eggs though.

Yeah, tell me about it. I had on my Tokina wide-angle zoom for the yellow seahorse at Mixing Bowl, too. Luckily I found a seahorse on another dive. (Never got the jawfish with eggs, though; another excuse to return...)

edpdiver,

Thanks for taking the time to post the report. I know it can be time consuming.

I'm glad to see you took the time to get shots of the little critters. Too many folks like the big stuff so much that they don't slow down enough to see the Brittle Stars in the sponges or the banded coral shrimp.

Thanks again,
DS

Thank you so much for posting this report. Loved your pictures! We're planning a trip to Little Cayman Beach Resort for February of next year. Just hope the weather allows for trips to Bloody Bay Wall. Thanks again!

Awesome pics and report! Thanx Thanx Thanx! going there in July. Damn is it that far away?...sniff.
