sigh... opinions, opinions and now we have assumptions...
as is most of what you posted below...
Corrosion inside??? Is that how often u service your gear?
Never happened to me, but it's possible. btw, you asked:
so what's so great bout ti?

And quite obviously you're aware that corrosion can happen:
1. Carelessness by the OP or the guy filling up the tanks and saltwater gets in as you didn't cap the regs properly after the dive.
2. You don't know the meaning of the word service.
3. Gunk and crap from poorly maintained tanks by dive operators that really don't give a damn.
Thanks for sharing what is already generally known...

I wouldn't even have responded to your troll except that I don't appreciate being called:
a F&*%ing Idiot
So you admit showing off your gear, I don't even if I'm asked cus I'm fixated on nobody touching my stuff after I'm done setting it up.
Wrong again...try reading what what I posted more carefully instead of making assumptions. I said I don't show off my gear unless asked. And I've never been asked.
Nuff said.
I'm done also unless you care to reply...

Wow... I didn't know that I was addressing YOU when I said it LOL!

Suffice to say, we agree to disagree... THE END

If you can afford a Ti then why not. The prejudice lives on because the majority cannot afford a Ti reg, or wouldnt want to part with so much money they can otherwise spend on something else.

I own a Ti reg myself. I am not status conscious, but i dont mind paying for the best perceived materials/gear/bcd/reg/fins because i can afford it, i think my life isnt worth a cheaper reg, and because i want to know i am diving with the gear that can probably best increase my enjoyment.

While everyone has opinions, to claim that someone will look like an idiot trying to show off a Ti suggests someone who possibly buys tech gear to look serious (no doubt u might be a tech diver laughing down at all other rec divers).

excuse me for the slight hijack (and hopefully diffuse the thread a bit... :D).

Stopped by my LDS during lunch. I had been whining about how heavy the Apeks XTX/ATX 200 1st stages are. To my surprise, the Scubapro MK17 and MK25 weren't that much lighter (really couldn't tell without a scale).

Out of curiousity, does anyone have actual weight of these and other regs? The manufacterers' websites don't disclose the info.

My friend just spoke to the local SP distributor and they claim the Ti version weights 1/2 that of the normal version but get this... SGD $430 vs SGD $1700 just for the 1st stage.... shudder. 4X the price for 400g of weight savings. SGD$1300 can get me a decent trip to Bali.

Btw, don't quote me on the exact weight savings, it's 2nd hand info I didn't call the distributor directly.

This is a good example where a titanium regulator can be legitimately considered ridiculous (except by those who are filthy rich). I admit that I would never pay full retail price for a titanium regulator, considering that such a price could probably buy at least four top-of-the-line regs. It is only when titanium regulators are approximately the same price as brass regulators that titanium becomes a good idea for most people, e.g. the Delta 3 Ti-reg at Scubatoys.

The opinion of...

Sadamune ;)

Atomic does:

The T2 weighs 1.7lbs.
The Z2 weighs 2.3lbs.
The B2 weighs 2.4lbs.
includes first stage, 1 second stage and standard length hose. I assume the B2/T2 also includes the weight of the swivel.

Add 5.4 to 5.9oz. for an octo.

Since you posted after my comments about why I have a Ti reg, I sort of assumed you were at least indirectly addressing me. At the very least your comment lumped me into the "Idiot" group - at least from your perspective.

Suffice to say, we agree to disagree... THE END
Works for me...:)

Agree with you here for sure...though as a footnote, the Titanium regs, I am told, simply do not corrode at all inside or out...okay, rinse well your B2 and have it serviced regularly and we're back where you ended, but thought I'd add the footnote...

For my part, I use an old SP MK10...probably a few ounces heavier than even the brass MK25...but does the job...
