The term 'ride' is meant as in when slung while scuba diving. They will be just fine riding in a car or truck, get make sure you use a seat on them :D.

That said the cylinders sound like they will need a requal test (aka hydro test). Take them down to your local fire extinguisher or CO2 filler.
