I usually keep a wet suit until it eithers doesn't fit or dryrots ... so far the only wetsuits that i have had to replace was due to my expanding waist line .....

I generally would buy a new wetsuit over a used one. Also, I would consider getting one grade thicker suit than you think you need because it will compress over time. I'm mostly a tropical diver and I bought my first suit a 3mm. It was great but after about 40-50 dives or so in it it started to really lose its insulating properties. Now (after 1 yr) its about a 1mm suit! So I just bought a new suit for the tropics, and this time I bought at 5/4mm, after some months of diving it it will probably compress down to around 3mm, just right for most conditions I dive in. I have never felt too hot in a wetsuit before so between now and then it should be fine, albeit a little more bulky for traveling. Hope this helps.
:)

Go dry suit, cheaper in the long run. Buy a new suit, why go through all that worrying of whether or not it going to fall apart on you or worse getting a rash from god knows what. Some things are worth saving money but a good suit that your comfortable with is....PRICELESS!
