I am considering buying a scubapro regulator, the MK25 S550, from leisurepro. Has anyone had to use the leisure pro warranty for a scubapro part/product? If so, what was your experience?

My LDS has the same product for about $150 more that than the lp price. I have purchased other stuff from LP but have not had any problems. Most places, whether LDS or online, are usually fine for purchasing but I want to know whether LP really honors the Scubapro warranty (I mean by LP's own warranty that says it will match the manufacturer's).

Thanks!

you just answered your own question. LP does not honor SP or anyothers warranty as they provide their own. I believe the wording says that it is usually as good as the mfg's. Why would LP's stance on Warranty be different for SP than any other mfg? If your concerned, then buy from LDS. Remember, SP offers lifetime parts. LP is not going to offer that......(dont' know for sure, but you can ask). If they do, then your going to have to pay for shipping each way.

I've bought alot of stuff from Leisure Pro and have always had great success. However, I woud never buy a Scubapro product from them because of the warranty issues. You say your dive shop will charge you $150 more than LP, but you get the lifetime warranty of parts. It won't take very long for that $150 savings to evaporate when you are footing the full price for parts on your yearly maintenance. Also, I don't think your LDS will be too thrilled about doing the upkeep on a reg that they know you didn't buy from them. During those busy times when your reg may be in the shop, I think the possibility exists that they will sit on the LP puchased reg.

Just my two cents...

I would buy from LP over the LDS. The warrany really isn't worth the extra money, especially considering how difficult it will be to find a LDS capable of working on your gear. I also think that you will get better customer service from LP. If you take good care of your gear, regs don't really need to be serviced every year.

The big thing evenyone misses on the whole "warranty" thing is what is actually covered...it's PARTS ONLY, you still have to pay for the anual service and if you miss it once the warranty is void anyway. So what is the actaul value of the warranty...$10-30 per year.

Exactly. The shops around here change $70.00 for labor. I think the best option is to buy online and learn to service the regs yourself.

I have the MK25/S600 with the 550 for a secondary. Whoever you buy from, I would skip the 550 and get the 250hp. It's the same guts as the 600 with a larger case. If I were to do it again, I would get the 250hp with the 380 for a secondary.

Really? How much do those parts cost? (No labor, just the parts, unless labor is free also.)

My local shop will do the labor for $60, parts are $35 for regs not under warranty...
