How come that nowhere in Bare Dry Suit owner’s manual or their website it is mentioned that latex seals are to be trimmed?

Do they assume it’s taken care of during sale?

One of those mystery of life questions. Like how to open a pill bottle.

The directions are inside?

I guess they normally assume that the suit is bought through a LDS and they'll instruct you on care and use.

Other aspects of care and use are described in the manual reasonably well, such as "if you have neoprene seal tuck it in this way, if you have latex seal sprinkle with talc and put it on that way..."

But not a word on trimming.

My Bare Commercial came with seals trimmed to fit me. Well, almost anyway. Maybe that is why. But, I did get mine through a dealer.

I also noticed that the new seals don't have trim rings...

Bare bottle neck seals are not trimmable.

In a recent email to Bare, I asked:

"The wrist seals in the Nex-Gen have a shape with which I am unfamiliar. Is that type of wrist seal trimmable for fit?"
Bare's response was:

"The wrist seals are called "Bottle Neck" and they are not to be trimmed, but instead if needed they can be stretched. You would put a pop bottle into them and leave it over night and stretch to your desired length."

Interesting, cuz latex doesn't stretch very much. I saw they were using bottle neck seals, which I don't like. Too bad, the seals on my Bare lasted 5 years, but they were much better than what they're using now.

Easy enough to try.

ScubaFishee,
what about the latex neck seal on Bare? Do you know if they suggest it stretches too?

Didn't ask about the latex neck seals. At the time I contacted them, I was leaning toward the neoprene neck seal.

You can email them at dive@bare-wetsuits.com and ask. They are very good at replying promptly.
