Yeah, I wouldn't be comfortable doing a shore dive unless I was with a guide or an experienced group. I grew up on the coast of California, so I know what bad surf can do.

Thanks for all the tips, I'm just really hoping for good weather and conditions. I'm not super picky about viz (again in California I've had it as bad as 2 feet), so even 20' I would consider great, and I've done swells before, but there no fun to dive in either. So fingers crossed!!
 
As the OP on this thread I just thought I would wrap it up by giving everyone an update on the dives I did last week on Oahu. I ended up going for three days (Friday - Sunday) with Kaimana Divers. I had 2 days on the afternoon trips and 1 on a morning trip.

I have to say I had an amazing time and diving with Kaimana was the highlight of my trip. All of the guides were fantastic and the diving was really great, truly an experience I won't ever forget. Thanks again to Gabe and the whole Kaimana gang!
