The last time I went to Lake Rawlings this time of year the water temp was about 55 degrees. I used a 7mm wet suit with hood and gloves. It wasn't too bad. Lots of stuff to check out, boats, cars, bikes, signs, statues....... I have stayed in the hotel and I've camped at the lake. The hotel near the site was horrible. Now I have heard that it has been renovated since I have been there. There wasn't any soap in the room, there were birds living in the air conditioning duct and the front door wouldn't close completely. The rates were cheap, but I found that camping was a much better experience. The camp site is extremely primitive. No shower facilities or running water. They do have porta-pots. Overall, a nice place to log some dive time and camping time on a budget.

I dove Rawlings about a month or a month and a half ago and the water temp was in the low 40s. I am sure it has warmed up since then. The Nottoway is the name of the motel near there and it is a decent place these days. The restaurant is actually really good and dirt cheap too.

The website KKM mentioned will get you squared away as far as what to see, etc. As far as quarries go, I rate it as my top destination. It edges out Dutch Springs just because it is a TON cheaper.. We usually camp when we go there and get in a couple of night dives. Vis is usually in excess of 30 feet.

As a new member of scuba board, I would like to thank everyone with the valuable information about Lake Rawlings. I checked the web site that KKM mentioned, and I talked with my buddy and we will be there this weekend: April 26 and 27.
Our original plan was to go to Mt Storm, but because the refill station is far from the lake, we decided to go to Rawlings.
I wish I knew about Scuba Board sooner, so that I could share the information with other divers.
