Hi all,

I am looking for some suggestions on who to dive with and where to dive on Lake Huron, probably out of Port Huron or Lexington. There are 3 of us and we will be there the last weekend in August. We are looking for some advanced sites, wreck dives in the 140-180' range. We are all deco, ERD, trimix certified. We will need to rent doubles and stage bottles but we have everything else. We are hoping to check out some interesting old wooden vessels, something historic would be nice. We found a charter on saturday with room but the sunday charter is full, so we thought maybe there is another option we haven't run across yet. Any ideas would be appreciated, even if they mean changing the dates by a few weeks.

Thanks

Brian

Brian,

There are lots of charters. Here are a few off the top of my head and a few planner notes. I've dove with all of the captains below. All are professional. Venet keeps his boat in Port Sanilac but will charter further North. Donato and Stayer same but also trailer boat. Lutz is up at the tip of the Thumb. & I'm not sure where Chris Roth is keeping his boat right now.

There are also many wrecks in the 140' to 180' range. My favorite is The Dunderberg - intact wooden schooner with a dragon figurehead and carved scrollwork. There's also The Albany. I don't usually dive that deep so can't reccommend any others. However, you don't need to go so deep to find fantastic wrecks in Lake Huron. Tons of great dives within recreational limits.

FYI - I believe the only place to get fills in the Thumb right now is in Port Sanilac at:
