I have three spots open on a wreck trip with Gary Venet out of Port Sanilac, Sunday, July 2nd at 8am if anyone is interested. We're diving the the Regina and the Charles S. Price. Charter price is based on cost of the boat and the number of divers. It will range from $100 to $125 depending on how many of these extra spots we get filled.

A fun time will be had by all! If you're interested PM me or e-mail me.

Thanks,

Andy

Nice pics... I wanna hit the Price!! on a 1 to 10 ranking how is it.

It's tough to rank. I've only been on about 25-30 Great Lakes wrecks and I'd rank it about a 5 or 6. There just wasn't much to see besides the propeller. It's upside down and collapsing. But the viz was great and it was warm. I really enjoyed it. And it was the first wreck dive for my girlfriend and it was a good one for her. It wasn't deep, dark or cold, which many in the Great Lakes are.

The Regina was an excellent dive. Great viz and much more to see. I still prefer upright wrecks but these two are still very much worth diving. I've done the Regina twice and would go back again and again.

Thanks for the report...The regina is one of my favorite wrecks along with the story it has with the Price and the 1913 storm. When you know some history about the wrecks really makes for a better dive in my opinion.

The history of the wreck really adds a lot to the dive. The dive itself isn't that great but I think it's better than I've heard people say it is. Yes, it's upside down and picked over pretty well, but the hull has collapsed in many places so there are some cavernous areas to get in to, and more to see than just a big upside-down hull. And at 504 feet long x 54 feet wide, the wreck is huge. We had great viz and couldn't see all the way across it. Our group was on the move almost the whole time, and swam maybe half the length of it. And being on the move we surely passed by a lot of stuff. There were schools of fish on it, too. I'll go along with the 5 or 6 out of 10 rating (does that make it a 5.5 so far?) If you're interested in the history of it then you've got to go there at least once. I'm sure I'll go back one of these days, but it's not high on my list.
