All of these are great ideas and I'm not going to add anything. But you know of course that you are now obliged to post pictures of this afterwards?

And when the ideas for Toadie stop coming, it might be fun for those of us with proposal stories to share our own experience. It might trigger some ideas for him.

Thanks all.... I believe I have my plan.... Now I just have to wait until Aug. 30

Hey Toadie your plan sound great!

Just make sure that your girlfriend stays off of Scubaboard between now and 30 August!

Hope it all goes well and do post pictures and a report!

Just don't go too far with your plan! I trained a couple a while ago, because the guy wanted to propose to her. Part of the plan was to get them both certified. of course, she knew nothing... so, after they got certified, he wanted to go for a weekend dive where they will come upon a treasure chest (that he put there a weekend before) with gold papered chocoholate inside and a diamond ring...

well, the only problem was, that the treasure chest was not there...

Ok, so I'm back in Sydney after a week in Cairns and I would say the plan worked perfectly. At first I was questioning getting the "top deck" service but I have to say it was well worth it. So the day started off and we woke up to head to the dock. Once we got there we boarded what I thought was going to be just a transport boat but it was a full on day tripper catamaran taking a bunch of snorkerlers out as well as some other people to the live aboard. I mention this because this is where the top deck part kicked in. While others were kept to the lower floor and outside deck, we were escorted to the topdeck and covered wheel house where a table was reserved for us. At this point we had a person "Lucy" dedicated to us who went about preparing a great breakfast, took care of pretty much everything, and got us what we needed. I took a trip downstairs to change into my suit and found that on the main floor it was quite a different level of service. Still nice but not near as nice as how we had it.

I met Lucy, found out the schedule, informed her of the plan and she was estatic since this would be her first time doing anything like this. After a ride out to the reef we went for a snorkle, had lunch served to us, and connected up to the main boat for our liveaboard excursion. About 30 minutes later we had our first dive which went pretty well.

After the first dive I went and found Lucy, prepped my BCD with the sign and the candy ring, and talked to another one of the girls who wanted to come along and watch as well as stand in for safety.... I guess this proposal thing is quite emotional and could have some adverse reactions  We created our plan and set to dive...

On the second dive we set out to find a sandy patch where the two girls would divert Lor's attention as I got ready. Once we found the place the girls decided to occupy Lori with a sea cucumber...

Once I was ready we got her turned around...

After the dive we went back to the boat, did the whole congrats things and got ready for a night dive. During this I learned that Lori for some reason didn't comprehend the sign and first and thought I was trying to tell her that there was a shark or something :rofl3: After the night dive we cleaned up for dinner which was served to us privately on the top deck of the boat and I must say was very impressive. We started off with champagne, a duck con fit salad, kangaroo fillet, and a pineapple pecan praline dessert.

Following dinner I'd love to say the magic happened but we were both zonked out so we headed to our room and fell fast asleep.

The next morning instead of having breakfast in bed we decided to have an early dive and eat downstairs at our own little table.

All in all a great experience... thanks for the advice.

Congratulations, Toadie! So happy it went so well and thank you for sharing with us.
